CopperHawk Farms is a small, family-run regenerative vegetable farm serving the Cleveland–Geauga area. They operate a CSA/delivery model and direct sales through their Ooooby online shop and farmers’ markets, positioning themselves as a source of fresh, same-day-harvest produce for local customers.
Like many small farms near urban centers, CopperHawk faces two connected challenges: (1) competing with supermarket convenience while preserving freshness and nutrition, and (2) maintaining soil health and productivity on a compact acreage. They address this by emphasising short harvest-to-consumer timelines and soil-friendly practices:
• Flexible CSA + e-shop: Instead of a single, rigid share, CopperHawk offers multiple bag sizes (Regular, Single, Salad) and a build-your-own option, plus weekly/fortnightly delivery slots, making local produce easier for different household sizes.
• Regenerative, low-till methods: They focus on low-till and hand-raised beds to protect soil structure and nutrient cycling on a 2-acre footprint. This supports higher-quality crops without relying on intensive tillage.
Ryan says, “We eased into our partnership with Ooooby in 2025. Growing was exceedingly difficult in our region this spring, so we did not get to take full advantage of the platform due to field and market demands. By the end of the season, however, our customers were using Ooooby as we had hoped. As we build our roster, we’re also claiming more space on our customer’s table. Our average weekly sales climbed as add-ons grew. Our customers loved the flexibility Ooooby offers, and we appreciated the streamlined packing and delivery process on the backend. Our delivery folks raved about the automated text notifications. The Oooby staff is prompt, professional, and personal. They listen. They help. We’re excited to take full advantage of the Ooooby platform in the upcoming year.”
